Gery for one week

now I am in Germany till next week’s Friday after having arrived here Friday night from Hamburg.

Yesterday I have had a small party with round about 12 people in my flat with Zubrowka and other stuff. Unexpected there are now also three other Polish students from SGH studying in IN, which have been also there – it was a great start into the upcoming exam’s week.

wrap up of last week:
… Park was our party destination for Monday and that night has been really awesome. Before we enjoyed the ice-cream the girls prepared for the warm up party of Madlen’s 20th birthday on Tuesday.
… Wednesday was a good example that plans don’t carry out as they should. We wanted to visit a Fetish potograph exhibition at Trecafe in the SilverScreen complex, but having arrived there we din’t get in because we had no reservation (some of us did it before – clever guys ;)).

Carl Cox in Wawa

Just coming back from the Carl Cox concert and had some sandwiches at magda’s and sarah’s place (thanks!). We went there with nine people and it was really great! Roughly 2,500 – 3,000 people have been there. That was my biggest concert so far – enjoyed it.

Poland and the United States

yesterday we celebrated anne-sophie’s 22nd birthday and went afterwards with the Americans to one of the many salsa-places here. quite nice, though we did not danced salsa ;). the Americans have their own programme here and are all much younger than we are – Rachel, the youngest one among them, is only 19 years old :o).

it’s incredible how much polish people like the USA, especially at sgh. for them it’s the best place to live – the most liberal economy with soooo many opportunities. everyone can become a millionare over there as we know. therefore it is in many cases the role model for the transformation of the polish economy – the social market economy here has failed in their eyes in the last decade. That’s also a reason of the many academic programmes among sgh and North American universities, e.g. they do have here a Canadian MBA programme.

i was first suprised to hear that many students are going each year to the USA in order to work there three month or so – you can find everywhere advertisements about thise. Over there they earn “astonishing amounts of dollars” for their low-qualified work, e.g. in a laundry of a hotel: after expenses: 1.500 bucks. most of them are working in Chicago – the biggest Polish city in the world – did you know this? About 4 mln. Polish people live there (in warsaw only 1.75 mln.).

Well, we also went to see “Chicago” on Tuesday night in kinotheka – it was not that bad as I thought – showbiz at its best for this time. actually I liked the jazz music a lot.

Swimming at SGH

went to the swimming pool at our school and the mixed sauna twice (yesterday and first time with felipe on sunday), though the pool is only 20m long and you can easily stand in it, it’s a good opportunity to do some sports beside studying – i think i will do it from now on nearly every (second) day.

sunday night: Trassa – nice club in an modern office building near school

Exploring Wawa at night and day

recovered from the third party in a row yesterday – just came back from the Russian market with Gregory (it’s even fuller on the weekends with more interesting stuff to buy there).

on friday me and Darek, Thomas buddy, went with Hamed and Felipe to Labirynt (huge, fancy club where they also showed nice lingerie at even more beautiful women – another way of getting entertained ;), but pretty expensive)

yesterday, saturday, was “rabbit hunting day”, where we had to fulfill various tasks all over Warsaw – our group (Greg from Canada/France, Stijn from the Netherlands as well as Vicky (half German, half Polish) and me) was definitely the most creative one in wild guessing, drawing pretty mermaids and collecting sex flyers, which was of course not a task. In the evening we went finally to Hybrydy with a all the dressed-up Spanish girls.
