Easter break

I took a break from my thesis writing and went to see my family in the Ruhrgebiet over Easter. Was really nice to see everybody again after such a long time and to celebrate together a bit – actually we only went out for lunch on Sunday, but not much more beside lots of chocolate.

That Saturday we drove also to Eindhoven in the Netherlands for the day – unfortunately was raining. Back in Bochum we saw the really fascinating movie “Big Fish“, and chilled afterwards in the 60′s styled bar Eve Bar in the basement of the Schauspielhaus Bochum enjoying delicious cocktails. So, also the fun was not missed out.

Worth to mention is also my flight back with V Bird, which I checked out for the very first time: Niederrhein (said to be near Duesseldorf) to Munich. Though I was prepared to drove a while to Niederrhein I was shocked by the destination at first, not only that it is located completely remote (far apart from Duesseldorf, rather near to Kleve and the Dutch border), but more that one had to cross a kind of ghost town, which was formerly a British military base, to reach the airport. This suddenly appears as a modern glass building in front of you with a huge parking lot in front of it. The journey itself was really relaxing – with cute Dutch stewardesses dressed in kind of jogging outfits.

Jazz – a bit different…

Tonight Martin, Sven and me went to see the Munich group Flute Flash in Bürgertreff for the incredible price of 1 EUR (“Geizpreis”). Monika Olszak and her band experiences with flute sounds to jazz – and not too bad. Her band is really multinational (the half-italian drummer comes from UK – really crazy guy, the bassist from former Yugoslavia, and the drummer is Argentine), and at least as many influcences and facets has their Jazz. They played two sets for about two hours and varied across several styles. Have not often been to such a good concert. So, if you have the opportunity to see the four, do not miss it!
